One man, one mile, five minutes
I used to be a runner. Then things changed.
My track and field career in high school was not impressive. After my sophomore year, I pretty much gave it up. It was kind of a "why run when you can drive" type of thing. Anyways, my personal record in the mile was 5:01. I ran that at the Bolles school in Jacksonville, and after the race I was certain I would break 5 minutes my next race. But I didn't--I ran like a 5:20 and then I quit forever.
And recently I woke up and I realized I was growing older. I'm 27 now--in ten years I will be past my prime. Which means I'm in my prime now, or at least I should be. I should be. So I decided to run this goddamn mile in less than 5:00 minutes before its too late.
And of course, blog it.
